CORDILLERA AUTONOMOUS REGION

The Cordillera Autonomous Region – Isneg, Isneg Riddles, The Tingguian, The Great Tingguian Flood Myth, Hudhud, Hudhud Hi Aliguyon Oggood, Lumawig, Sudsud, Sudsud of the Kankanay, Ullalim, Adventures of Banna. ISNEG, Northern western Luzon, Isneg live in the northern western tip of the Cordillera Mountains to the Kalinga, Tingguan and Ifugao. They have culture similarities and only the languages differ. This tribe is very fond of tobacco. Lesson 4 Hudhud – Ifugao, Northern Luzon, the most prominent of the mountain people. They are known collectively as Igorots, actually consisting of the major groups. The Ifugaos and Bontocs are the most advanced. Their ancestor built the famous rice terraces over 2,000 years ago without the aid of metal tools. Lesson 6 – Sudsud Kankana-ey, Northern Luzon. The mountain province of benguet is the home of the Kankana-ey. Men wear the traditional G-string. Ormentation by tattooing of the arm is popular among the sexes. Lesson 7 – Ullalim, Kalinga, Northern Luzon, The Kalinga stand tall and are of Malayan heritage. In the past, they were feared for their head hunting activities. It shows that in the different places in the Cordillera Autonomous Region have their own cultures, belief, lifestyle, and status of living or standing in their society. They have different beliefs in religion. They have their own ways of living like hunting, planting vegetables, rice, corn, making some handy crafts own their own style and materials. The Ifugaos plant rice for their everyday living. And they have their different rituals when members of their tribes die. In CAR they have a different story or mythology that tells about their differences and the way they want to show their beliefs…

BIAG NI LAMANG

Base on my judgment or critique to this kind of Philippine mythodology. I think there are so many supernatural things happened in the story and also there are so many unbelievable or impossible things that can’t be happen in reality. I will elaborate some of the things that are unbelievable. First, when Lam-Ang born he has the power of speech and unusual physical form. We all know that an ordinary baby usually can’t speak and they even haven’t enough strength to walk or do anything. But in case of Lam-Ang he can do anything he wants he has a power to do things that are unbelievable. And also he told to her mother that he should called Lam-Ang. Can a normal baby, can do that? Definitely a normal baby can’t do that.

Second, in his very young age he was able to fight those Igorots, who killed his father. And he slew those Igorots. After the revenge for his father he takes a bath, and all the fish died. He has a poisonous something to his body after his revenge. It is also impossible to slew those Igorot by an ordinary boy.

Third, when he court to Ines Kannoyan, daughter of the rich man in their town. He took a white rooster and a dog with him as he forth to court Ines. And he uses those pets to impress everyone with his magic. That pet has an extraordinary power, the dog of Lam-Ang can destroy a house by growling, and his rooster becomes his spoke person for courting Ines Kannoyan. And also in this story Lam-Ang died and those pets help Ines to revive Lam-Ang reborn again. And they live happily ever after. See, in reality those pets can’t do those things.

Even this story has many things that are impossible to believe. I learned something. Being powerful or being strong has a good help for building ourselves. And this story teaches us to believe something that is impossible, to reach our goal. Like, Lam-Ang being strong, powerful, and brave he can do anything he wants. He wants to get the love of Ines and he already got it by his strong dedication. That’s all I can say to this story of Lam-Ang.

WHO I AM???

First, I would like to share a little bit of me, to all of you guys… Those who can read this blog, I am ERIKA ANGELINE O. CUERDO, daughter of Bienvenido and Daisy O. Cuerdo. We’re only two siblings in my family. My brother’s name is Charlemagne O. Cuerdo. Now, I’m 18 yrs. Of age, live at # 61 Interior Sumulong St. Brgy. San Roque, Antipolo City. I am currently studying in Rizal Technological University at Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong City. I’m taking up a Bachelor’s Degree, Bachelor of Science in Office Administration – Major in Office Management. I am now a junior student in RTU.

MY HIGH SCHOOL DAYS – I’ve studied my secondary level in Antipolo National High School San Isidro Extension, Year 2002-2006. I have learned many things in my high school days. I’ve met my friends there, share my thoughts with them, cry with them, laugh with them, share my problems with them. I’ve been missing those days that I am only a high school student. Also I’ve learned to love someone secretly in that time… Ahehehe… It’s part of our life to love someone and to get hurt. Until now I’ve been thinking why I loved that person for so long. Well, that person is already part of my past…Let’s leave it behind…

MY HOBBIES – I love music, I’m in love w/ music… Music is always part of my everyday routine or in my entire life… I ask my friends of their favorite songs and I try my very best to study it, so I can play it on my guitar and also I can play it for them. I love them, that’s why even if it is hard to get the right timing, strumming, and finger plucking. I still try to study those songs for them. I like mellow, R&B, love songs, and songs that gets my interest. When I have my time , I open my friendster account, yahoo messenger, yahoo mail, youtube account, and researching for the guitar chords of the songs that I like. My bonding time w/ my college friends are singing in karaoke booths, window shopping at malls, texting, sharing secrets to each other, food tripping, making funny moments with each other and there’s a lot of things we do together…And also my hobby is listening to a program on the radio station, “heart to heart by Regie Valdez” when I have my time I listen… YEHEY!!!! I’ve been already type 400 words… I’m happy!!! You want to know why??? Ahehehe.. because this is are first assignment in our English Subject and I accomplished our first homework… Thank you to you guys, those who read this blog… have I a nice day….
