GUITAR(new short story)

GUITAR
By: Erika Angeline O. Cuerdo

There was a girl I know who want to learn to play guitar. She was on her high school days. She dreams to be a professional guitarist. And also dream someday she can play her favorite song in her own guitar. One day her birthday comes she wished to her mother to buy her a green acoustic guitar. The only chord she knows is the chord of C only. She practices to gain some skills in playing guitar. She bought some song hits, guide books for beginners who want to learn to play a guitar. A day past she did not stop practicing until she learns some song. The first song she learn is “leaving on a jet plane” and some OPM songs. The funny things happened to that girl when she starts learning to play. She can play the guitar but she can’t sing the song, but sometimes she can’t sing the song while playing her guitar. After a year ago, now she can sing while playing her guitar. But she still can’t play her favorite song, “No Ordinary Love”.

Three years later when she starts to play a guitar her professor want her to joint a contest for classical guitar. And her classmates help her to play her piece to present in that contest. That contest is her first contest that she joined. The girl prepared for that contest too much and one of her classmate allows her to use his own composition for that contest. He also helps her to play it perfectly.

This is the moment she has been waiting for. The day has come to perform in classical guitar contest. The girl was very nervous. Her classmates, friends and professor watched her and gave support. All her co-finalist was very good playing their piece. She was the only girl joined in that contest. All her classmates and friends were very nervous too. Her professor prayed for her so that she can play her piece very well. When the awarding is come, she won the 3rd price and she is very happy because she didn’t expect that. All her friends were very happy for her achievement.

And that girl named ERIKA ANGELINE O. CUERDO….and that is me…

Secretly In love

By: Erika Angeline O. Cuerdo

First what is love? Love is a strong and deep feeling or affection to someone. Some people or we can’t define real definition of love. We know everyone of us experience to love secretly; to people who are we have a very unexplainable feeling. Loving someone secretly is very hard, why? Because you can’t express how you feel, show you care to that person too much; give everything to make that person happy. That someone doesn’t know how you feel. There are some reasons why we hide are feelings. One, we are afraid to know the truth if you tell how you feel. Second, we’re also afraid what will happen next if you already told to that person your feelings; especially it is hard when that person is your friend. And lastly, we’re afraid of the reaction of that someone. If that person will love you too or love you back. I wrote this essay because I experience all I type here.. I hope you enjoy reading my essay
SOMEONE

By: Erika Angeline O. Cuerdo

I wrote this poem without a clue

My heart and my mind can’t tell what to do

I can’t explain how I feel

If this feeling I felt is real

I want to express these special feelings

But there’s something bordering me

If that someone I loved,

Feels the same how I feel

I try to say what I feel

Show this extra special feeling

That this love I felt now is real

Tell how it means to me

It hurts to feel this way

Feeling sorry for myself

Now, my heart longing and craving for love

To that someone who attract my heart…

THE MODEL

A story was told many centuries ago of a renounced artist in a faraway town in Sicily Italy. The artist was engaged to paint a mural for the cathedral and the subject he was to portray was the life of Jesus Christ.

The artist worked for many years w/ diligence and finally finished the painting except for two important figures that of baby Jesus Christ and Judas. He found it extremely difficult to look for his models.

He search far and wide for suitable models and still didn’t find any until one day, while leisurely walking along the streets, he saw a young boy who had a lovely, young innocent face which stirred his heart. This was the face he was looking for to be the model of the child Jesus. The artist took the young child home and started doing his painting of the Christ child. Day by day, the child sat patiently until the face of baby Jesus was finished. But the painter still found no model for Judas.

Many men from all over the world offered to pose as a model for Judas. But the Christ found no one who would model for Judas he wanted to portray a man twisted by life, weakened by surrender to greed and lust, made by sir.

The news about the unfinished portrait spread afar and the hunt was on. Many men offered to pose as model for Judas indeed.

Many years passed and the artist found in his wanderings a miserable-looking man, all dirty and tattered.

He then thought of the old man as his model for Judas. “At last I found the perfect model”, he murmured to himself. He glanced once again at the man and was startled to find his face bearing the marks of sin it seemed.

The man asked for wine and the artist gave him.

It look a long time ago for the painter to put the man’s face on the canvas.

He worked to complete his masterpiece.

One day, while the artist was doing his painting, an alarmed look registered on his model’s face, “what? Is that my face? Do I really look like that now?” In disgusts the model covered his face and began to sob.

The artist was touched by the man’s misery what’s wrong? After a long while, the model raised his face and asked the artist. “Do you recognize me? Do you remember my face? I was your model as Christ some years back.

The artist was shocked but kept quiet and continued his work. Little did he realize how time could change a man? He pondered hard thought, how tome and circumstances could win a man.
